Garden & Landscape Volunteering

Hazelwood land welcomes care and attention from careful and experienced volunteer gardeners!

Hazelwood has 67 wild acres of land with lush river-side meadows and woodland. Within the estate there are two lovely old apple orchards and a Victorian fruit cage, housing raspberry canes, currant and gooseberry bushes.

At crucial times throughout the year, successful volunteer weekends have been held by Wendy Stayte to take care of these orchard and soft fruit areas, culminating in a harvest and apple pressing weekend for all to join in. Wendy however is now retiring from 10 years of devoted care to the land at Hazelwood and we would very much like her work to be continued.

Hazelwood is looking for someone interested in longer-term gardening work on the land. There is the potential to grow vegetables and herbs along with the fruit.
This is quite a unique opportunity for someone to work with us at Hazelwood and create an exchange of land use and care for a share of harvest and crops.

We would like to take this opportunity to warmly thank Wendy for her dedicated love and care and endless enthusiasm!
